Lake City, Michigan, is the county seat of Missaukee County and known as the "Christmas Tree Capital of the Nation."
According to 2012’s Census Bureau, the city occupies about 1.05 square miles – all of which is land. Lake City gets its name from the three inland lakes located either in or at the edge of town, including Lake Missaukee, Lake Sapphire and Crooked Lake. Our 337 households account for 216 families and 836 individuals.
Our local streams are filled with some of the area’s finest brook, brown and rainbow trout. Lake fishing offers a host of habitants including bass, walleye, northern pike, crappie, pan fish and perch. Of course, hunting’s no problem either with an abundance of grouse, turkeys, ducks, woodcock and deer.
